Search Isabella County Released Inmates

Isabella County released inmates are not always visible on the live jail roster after they leave local custody. A search for Isabella County released inmates must connect the present-custody roster with the county release record, court disposition, state corrections status, and release notifications. Isabella County released inmates may have returned to the community, entered supervision, or transferred to another agency. Each path leaves a different record. The best Isabella County released inmate search starts by checking identity and custody, then follows the agency that received or released the person.

Isabella County Release Records

A release is a custody event, but it does not always mean a person is free of every legal restraint. Someone may leave the Isabella County Criminal Justice Center on bond, after serving a county sentence, under a court order, or by transfer. A transfer to the Michigan Department of Corrections, another county, the United States Marshals Service, or immigration authorities ends the Isabella jail stay while custody continues elsewhere. The final jail register or booking record is therefore stronger evidence than a missing name on the live roster.

“Discharge” has a narrower corrections meaning. In Michigan OTIS, parole can mark physical release from prison while MDOC jurisdiction continues. Discharge is the end of that jurisdiction or supervision for the sentence. A court disposition explains the legal action, and VINE may report a custody change, but neither replaces the jail’s physical release entry. Read the status, date, authority, and destination together.

Time served
The jail part of a sentence has been completed.
Parole
Release from prison under continuing MDOC supervision.
Probation
A community sentence ordered by a court, sometimes after jail.
Discharge
The end of an agency’s supervision or jurisdiction for that sentence.
Detainer
A request or basis for another authority to take custody.

How Isabella County Inmates Leave

The type of departure determines the next useful source. A valid bond can authorize a return to the community while the case remains open. A dismissal, acquittal, or time-served sentence may support release, but an unrelated warrant or hold can prevent it. A transfer is not a community release. The Isabella County release record should be checked for the authority and destination before the event is described.

Release or transferWhat it meansNext record
Bond or recognizanceThe jail stay ends while the case usually continues.Court bond order and jail release time
Dismissal or acquittalOne case ended favorably, subject to any other hold.Signed court order and jail record
Time served or good timeThe county sentence was completed as computed.Judgment and final jail release form
MDOC transferThe person left county custody but remains incarcerated.OTIS after reception processing
ParoleSecure prison custody ended under supervision.OTIS Parolee status and Date Paroled
Other-agency transferAnother county, federal, or immigration authority received custody.Receiving agency and court record

Probation may begin after a county jail term, but it can also be imposed without prison. It should not be inferred from bond release. Likewise, the OTIS “Date Discharged” is not automatically a living community release because the discharge reason can vary. The source record supplies the needed context.

Fields in Isabella Release Records

A focused request should seek an existing final booking and release sheet, jail register entry, or comparable record. That preserves the link between the person booked, the charges or holds, and the event that ended the Isabella County jail stay. A requester should provide a full legal name, aliases, date of birth, and a booking or jacket number when known. Name alone is not a safe identity match.

FieldWhat it shows
Name, aliases, birth dateIdentity details used to separate similar names
Booking or jacket numberThe local custody file tied to the event
Booking date and timeWhen local processing began
Arresting agencyThe agency that brought the person to the jail
Charge, hold, bond, case numberLegal entries affecting custody and court routing
Release date and timeWhen physical release processing was recorded
Release type or authorityThe basis for ending the jail stay
Transfer destinationThe next custodian when the person did not enter the community
Booking photographThe image associated with that booking, if disclosable

A docket can show that a judge granted bond or ordered time served. It may not show the exact minute when jail staff finished identity checks, property processing, account work, and any hold review. Pair the court order with the final jail entry when both the legal basis and physical time matter.

Request Isabella County Release Records

Michigan FOIA requests for jail records go to the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office, the custodian of its booking and release files. The county form is useful but not mandatory. It allows copies, certified copies, inspection, or a subscription request, with pickup, mail, email, or available digital media as delivery choices.

  1. Identify the person with a full name and date of birth, plus a booking number when available.
  2. Ask for the existing final booking/release sheet, jail register entry, and booking photo. State the date range and desired fields.
  3. Send the request to Isabella County Sheriff FOIA at 5270 E. Remus Rd., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858, or email foiasheriff@isabellacounty.org.
  4. Ask for an itemized estimate before costs exceed a chosen amount. Request the existing electronic format when that will meet the need.
  5. Read the response carefully. A timely response may grant, partly grant, deny, estimate fees, seek a deposit, point to an online record, or report no responsive file.

The county form states a five-business-day response period and permits a ten-business-day extension. That deadline is for a response, not always final production. Under posted county procedures, an estimate above $50 may lead to a 50 percent deposit. Labor is measured in 15-minute increments rounded down, and the local policy caps standard letter or legal paper at ten cents per sheet. Current law controls if an old county form differs.

Michigan’s 2025 local law-enforcement retention schedule lists inmate jackets, including mug shots, property-release forms, transfer documents, and inmate-release forms, for release plus ten years. A daily-count summary may follow a shorter calendar-year-plus-one-year rule. Retention authorizes a schedule; it does not prove Isabella created every item or that an exemption cannot apply.

Michigan Law on Isabella Releases

Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq., provides access to nonexempt public records held by a public body. MCL 15.235 sets the general response framework, MCL 15.234 governs fee components and deposits, and MCL 15.243 contains exemptions. Juvenile, medical, security, victim, personal, or active-investigation information may be withheld or redacted. FOIA gives access to an existing record; it does not require the sheriff to write a new explanation.

A set-aside can change public visibility. Michigan law directs courts and arresting agencies to make specified arrest, conviction, and sentence information nonpublic after the statutory process. A vanished public result does not prove that a person was never booked. It also is not a reason to republish an old cached copy. Correction questions belong with the court or agency that controls the display.

Record boundary: The sheriff controls its jail record, the court controls its case record, and MDOC controls its correctional record.

Isabella Release Property Records

The 2025 Criminal Justice Center guide says personal possessions are collected, inventoried, bagged, and stored at admission. Money is inventoried and placed in the inmate account. That inventory gives a released person or authorized requester a specific record anchor when property or an account disposition is in doubt. Ask for the stored-property inventory, signed property-release form, and final account information that can lawfully be disclosed.

Staff may need issued items returned before property processing is complete. For a disputed inventory, identify the booking and ask the Sheriff’s Office for the existing property record rather than relying on memory or a roster change.

Note: Property processing can support the release record, but it does not state whether another agency took custody.

Isabella County Release Day Logistics

The CJC guide does not publish a fixed release hour, public exit, weekend schedule, family waiting point, or property-counter schedule. It also does not promise that a Sunday or holiday date will be processed on the prior Friday. Court transmission, holds, identity checks, property and account work, transportation, and another agency’s acceptance can all affect physical timing.

Call jail/inmate information at (989) 772-5915 with the person’s accurate name or identifier and ask where and when an authorized pickup can occur. No official source established a county-provided ride, release-specific bus stop, gate money, or fare voucher. Wait for direct confirmation rather than using the disappearance of a roster tile as a pickup signal.

Verify Isabella County Bond Release

The official Isabella inmate-search page warns about bail and bond scams. It says payment is accepted only through the official county website or in person at the jail. Gift cards, wire transfers, and unofficial payment demands are warning signs. The inmate guide also refers to JailATM bonding, but the official county path should be used to reach any payment service.

Bond authorization, payment, and physical exit are separate facts. Check the court’s amount and conditions. Confirm payment through the approved route. Then obtain the jail release timestamp. A bond release normally leaves the criminal case pending, so it must not be described as a dismissal or final disposition.

Isabella release check: Never send bond money based only on a call, text, social post, or copied payment link.

Find Isabella County Released Inmates

The strongest search begins with the official Isabella sources and expands only when the custody path calls for it. The county exposes a current-lodging roster, not a verified public 24-hour or 72-hour release archive. A no-match therefore starts the inquiry. It does not finish it.

  1. Open the official Isabella inmate-search page and check the current roster. Record the date and time of the check.
  2. Search Michigan VINELink and compare the person, reporting agency, facility, and custody status. A VINE alert is useful corroboration.
  3. If a prison sentence or MDOC transfer is possible, search OTIS by MDOC number or carefully matched name.
  4. Search both D76 District Court and C21 Circuit Court. Review bond, dismissal, sentence, time-served, probation, and disposition events.
  5. Call jail information at (989) 772-5915 for an operational check, then submit a narrow FOIA request for durable proof.
  6. Use BOP or ICE only when federal or immigration custody is plausible. These locators do not replace the Isabella booking record.

Why did the name leave the roster? The public roster is configured for current offenders. Removal may reflect a community release, transfer, data timing, or identity mismatch. The sheriff record’s release type and destination resolve that uncertainty.

Isabella Release Court Search

Isabella criminal records require two court paths. The 76th District Court search covers misdemeanors and preliminary felony activity. A felony commonly continues in the 21st Circuit Court search after bind-over. One arrest may therefore have related district and circuit case numbers.

Look for bond changes, dismissal, plea or verdict, sentence, time-served language, warrants, probation, and final disposition. MiCOURT is an informational display, not a substitute for the official record. Obtain the signed order or judgment when exact legal effect matters. For physical release time, return to the jail record.

Note: A district-court no-result should not end an Isabella felony search before the circuit path is checked.

Two Isabella Release Tools

Isabella County’s own inmate-search page places JailTracker and VINELink together. They answer different questions. JailTracker is described as a way to find someone who may be lodged now. VINELink adds a custody-status and notification layer. That local pairing is the clearest first step for a released-first search.

A VINE out-of-custody event may be timely, yet it remains an agency-fed notice rather than a certified release sheet. Save the event information and confirm the release type, time, and destination with the jail or court. If no VINE result appears, check spelling and identifiers before calling the jail.

Isabella Federal Release Checks

A person can leave the Isabella roster while another authority keeps custody. The BOP Inmate Locator is for federal prisoners, not county-jail-only cases. Its results can show a release date and released status, but federal court supervision or custody elsewhere may continue. USMS pretrial prisoners can be housed in local contract facilities and may not yet have a normal BOP designation.

The ICE Online Detainee Locator is mainly a current locator and can include people released from ICE custody during a recent period. A no-result can also mean transfer, removal, data lag, excluded status, or mismatched identity. An ICE detainer is a request for notice and brief additional holding so federal officials can assume custody. “Released to ICE” is a handoff, not a return to the community.

Isabella Work Release Fees

The CJC guide describes work release as a structured custody program, not final discharge. Participation is approved case by case for specified classification levels. Participants generally work within Isabella County unless the jail administrator approves another arrangement, wear a GPS tether, and pay listed categories of work-release, GPS, and local custody fees each week.

The cited guide does not publish one universal amount. No dollar figure should be guessed, and the fee categories do not prove that every released person owes a balance. Ask the jail about the named person’s authorized program status and account. A worksite trip or GPS status is not proof that the underlying jail sentence ended.

Current Isabella Jail Record Location

The formal local facility name is now Isabella County Criminal Justice Center. Current county materials route jail information and sheriff FOIA requests to 5270 E. Remus Road. Older documents and search results may use “Isabella County Jail” and point to the former downtown location. That history matters when planning a pickup or requesting an old record.

Use the current official contact for the request, but include the booking date and older facility name when known. The records custodian can then identify the correct era. The new name and address do not create a second jail record system; the current Sheriff’s Office remains the custodian for both new and historical Isabella jail records.

Isabella County Release Facility

The facility sweep verified one adult detention facility operated for Isabella County. The Isabella County Criminal Justice Center holds local jail bookings. A community release is confirmed through the final jail record, court disposition, or VINE event. A transfer to MDOC must be followed in OTIS. No separate public adult tribal jail, operating MDOC prison, BOP institution, or ICE detention center was verified inside the county.

Arresting agency is not enough to select a roster. Isabella sits at the meeting point of county law enforcement, tribal jurisdiction, Central Michigan University, state supervision, and two criminal court levels. The receiving jail and court case number are the sound routing facts.
